Oliver Moore
Barrister - Guildhall Chambers
Oliver is a former solicitor (qualified 1998), with Higher Rights of Audience, who transferred to the Bar in 2005, then joining Guildhall Chambers.
Oliver has a specialist costs practice and heads Guildhall Chambers’ Costs and Litigation Funding team, which is described in Legal 500 2020 as a leading set outside London for costs matters. He is also a personal injury specialist and is joint head of Guildhall Chambers’ Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence team.
He advises and represents paying and receiving parties in all aspects of civil costs. His work cover costs disputes in a wide range of practice areas but most often in personal injury and clinical negligence cases.
Oliver is frequently instructed on costs appeals, to appear at the SCCO and before Regional Costs Judges in detailed assessments, particularly where costs are high or there are complex issues of principle. He deals with disputes over costs orders, including in respect of the application of Part 36.
Oliver’s work also includes advice and representation in relation to costs management issues in substantial cases.
Since 2013 Oliver has been ranked by Chambers UK for Costs Litigation. He is listed as a Leading Individual in the field across All Circuits. He is also ranked by Chambers UK in Personal Injury. In Legal 500 Oliver is ranked in the fields of Costs and Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence.
In the 2020 edition of Chambers UK it is stated: “Oliver's practical experience and extensive costs experience make him an ideal advocate for any PI and clinical negligence costs litigation" and "He is able to quickly grasp the issues, apply the law and present arguments in a logical and persuasive fashion.”
